Hospitality with care for people and the environment

Corporate Social Responsibility

Sustainability

At Van der Valk Hotel Amsterdam - Amstel, we believe that hospitality goes beyond a pleasant stay. It also means taking care of the world around us. That is why we work every day towards a hotel that is not only comfortable, but also as sustainable as possible.

We do this in various ways. For example, we encourage conscious water and energy consumption, make sustainable choices in our kitchen with attention to biodiversity, and help reduce food waste.

These efforts contribute to our Green Key Gold certification, the international label for sustainable businesses in the hospitality sector. As proud holders of this certification, we continue to make sustainable choices throughout our hotel every day, without compromising on comfort and quality.

Green Stays

With a Green Stay, guests choose to forgo housekeeping service during their stay. Together, we save water, energy, and cleaning products. For every skipped room cleaning, we plant a tree through the Green Stays initiative in a reforestation project in North Macedonia. A small choice with a big impact.

Curious how many trees have been planted thanks to our guests? View the tree counter.

Biodiversity on your Plate

Sustainability also plays an important role in the kitchen of Restaurant Amstelle. As an ambassador of Biodiversity on your Plate, an initiative of Dutch Cuisine, we work with products that contribute to the preservation and restoration of biodiversity.

This includes seasonal produce, locally sourced ingredients and products from suppliers who treat nature and the environment responsibly. Through these choices, we give biodiversity a place on the plate.

Too Good To Go

Reducing food waste is an important part of our sustainability approach. That is why we work together with Too Good To Go. Through this app, products from our breakfast buffet that would otherwise go to waste are given a second chance.
